Get Your Free Link Here!

In the last post I said I’d try to get this site to #1 for the phrase Neil Shearing.

So…. I was just doing some research… looking for my neilshearing.com site at Google.

I typed in Neil Shearing (without quotes) and I couldn’t find neilshearing.com in the search results of the first 13 pages! I know the site is listed because doing a search site:neilshearing.com brings it up. I wonder how far down in the listings it’s buried. :-)

So… I have a big task getting this site to #1 for searches for Neil Shearing. LOL. I could use a little help. :-)

If you’d like to link to this site using something like:

Visit *a href=”http://www.neilshearing.com”>Neil Shearing’s blog*/a>

…I’d really appreciate it! Just paste the code into a page of yours and replace the *’s with <’s

In return I’ll approve a comment from you (this thread only please) with your website address in it. :-)

Backlinks are good of course, but I was recently able to get a page to the top of G with almost no backlinks at all. So on-page still rocks ;)

btw - Great that you’re writing a blog at last…

    Hi Neil

I have been following your Internet Marketing career for sometime.
Glad to see you finally got your self a blog, having, worked a little with blogs myself. I can say that it does, raise your site profile, but takes a long time with google, you have added your own rss feeds to your my google page? and my yahoo page? that helps.
You will also find that your blog will start to show much quicker on Yahoo and MSN, this just from my own experience.

As for a link, I would be glad to link with a fellow brit :-)
I will place you on a couple of my pages, I will let you know where when it is done.
I wont wish good luck, seems your hard work pays off and you do not need it.

    Hi Neil

Why don’t you use your name in the title of a few posts. I find that works really well to boost a blogs placement in the search engines. eg. “Neil Shearing recommends ABC widgets”…”Neil Shearings Holiday snaps”…that type of thing. Maybe mention in your post why you are doing it…so people don’t think you’re up yourself or gone cuckoo. eg. “The reason I’m using my name, Neil Shearing, in the title is because I want to optimise my search engine rankings…and doing this is very effective…try it in your own blog with keywords you want to rank high in.” And that way you can use your name again a few times in the post.
Anyway…good luck in getting a high ranking in Google for your name. I just Googled my own name and found I had a number one ranking, without even trying…so it’s not hard!

One other suggestion…maybe put your name in the Blog’s description as well…eg “Latest up-to-the-minute tips and secrets from Neil Shearing…an Internet Marketing veteran”
