What the heck?

How about this for an interesting clause from a well known affiliate network…

“Please note that if you earn commission whilst under consideration there will be two outcomes; if you are accepted you can keep the commission generated, however if you are denied the commission will be removed from your account.”

Oh, OK. So I can go ahead and promote a merchant whose affiliate program I’ve applied for while they consider my application, but if they turn me down, I get no commission regardless of the number of sales I may have generated.

Wow. That’s a good one.

I made a post on my blog a couple of weeks ago about a similar situation, where you’ve got to claim your affiliate commissions within 30 days of lose them.

Well that’s how I read it, but you might have a different opinion of what this line means:

“You must claim your Paypal payment within 30 days or the payment is void”

    Here’s my post about it.

    Hi Phil,

Well, that’s just not cricket, it is? :-)

I guess PayPal return the funds to the merchant’s account after 30 days and they consider it *their* money from that point. Nice. I hope you didn’t lose too much. :(

I love your mast-head for your blog, btw, very beautiful. :-)

    And the latest post…

On Monday, on a long walk down the mountain, I decided to leap over a fallen tree just to see if I could still jump tall buildings like Superman.

    I can’t.

My knees smacked into the truck

The truck? or trunk? Either way, ouch! :-)

    The truck?

    Ouch!

    Shows I shouldn’t write newsletters at 1am :)

BTW the mast-head is a pic of the view out of my home office Window (sunrise, not sunset)

That’s quite common for affiliate network to use that approach. Personally, I never start promoting anything until they approve me. When I come to think of it, this may be the reason some programs take a month or two before they approve you.

    Hey, what the….?

Do people and companies get away with such blatant unethical practices.

It’s going to be a beautiful day, when we can have a service and web that can filter out the chaff, leaving the wheat to feed the producers of the world.
