Having used to own a laptop shop most of the price drop has been not due to technology but due to a drop in the % commission the salesperson/shop recieves. Back in 2000 a laptop would cost about $3000, $1000 of that was cream. Today most laptop sales operate on a 8% markup.
Not worth being in the business anymore.
