Slash’s Autobiography… Slash

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

I’ve just finished reading “Slash” the autobiography by Slash and Anthony Bozza. It was an excellent read. I got it for Christmas, so the 450+ pages must’ve been a bit addictive for me to finish it on New Year’s Day. :-)

Speaking of addictive… wow… Slash seems to have a definite obsessive-compulsive personality. When he can channel that drive into his music, he’s happy and creative. When he channels it into drugs… let’s just say I’m amazed he’s still alive!

I really enjoyed the story of how Slash grew up… his parents, background, schooling and early days. The early days of GunsnRoses were interesting too… especially how Axl always seemed to be one-apart from the rest of the band.

I liked the way the book was professionally written, and the clarity of the different stories Slash recalls.

Definitely one to re-read. Wow. When it says, “it may seem excessive… but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen”, he’s not kidding.

Slash (the book) is sold as a biography at Amazon.com, but is referred to as an autobiography at Slash’s website. (”Slash is in London, he will be signing his autobiography, “Slash,” on Wednesday 21 November at Waterstones”) So I’m not sure which it is. They also say on the website that Slash was, “co-written with Anthony Bozza”. So if it’s co-written, does that make it a biography, and auto-biography or both?

Note: this post didn’t have any to do with Internet marketing, but the author did see “Guns n Roses” play at Castle Donnington in 1988 when the crowd was estimated at 102,000. ;-)
