Real Link Finder on Windows 2000

Short version: We have a version of Real Link Finder for Windows 2000 machines (I think SP3 may be necessary). Please download this file and install the setup.exe file. If you need to install .Net, run the setup.msi file.

Long version: Originally Real Link Finder worked with Windows 2000 machines, but a lot of people had trouble downloading the required .Net from the Microsoft website, so we decided to bundle a file, setup.msi, with the new shiny version of Real Link Finder in an EXE package. The MSI file automatically installed .Net if it was required without the user having to visit Microsoft’s website. However, Windows 2000 machines couldn’t process the CAB files inside the EXE to begin the installation… so Windows 2000 users couldn’t install the new version. Now we understand the problem and I’ve put the setup file for Real Link Finder (setup.exe) and the setup file for .Net (setup.msi) inside a zip file separately.

Still with me? No, I thought not. :-)

Summary: We have Real Link Finder versions for 32-bit machines, 64-bit machines, XP machines, Vista machines and Win2000 machines.

    Hello Neil,

I tried making this comment yesterday but it seems there was a bug or something that prevented comment.

You see, I was one of your fans that find it impossible to download the software due to the .NET addition. Now, you’d done us a great favor by removing this obstacle. I’d already download the software and will let you know as I put it to use.

    Thanks. :)

    Hello Neil,

Here is my experience with the new version of the Real Link Finder software. I downloaded it quite easy and fast. Upon installing on PC, here was the negative results I encountered: “An error occurred while downloading a required file. You may retry downloading the file or cancel set up.”

Though I my PC wasn’t hooked to the internet, but I wonder if the file is .NET which I find impossible to download the on the first software. Please advice… L
