I think my Inbox is trying to tell me something!

What do you think? Am I on too many marketer’s email lists?

That was a bit crazy!

… and, no, I didn’t promote PPC Classroom… because I haven’t reviewed it personally.

Michael Campbell Opens The Vault

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Long-time marketing mentor of mine, Michael Campbell, has opened a “vault” where he shares his advanced tips and strategies for marketing online successfully.

I’ve had a sneak peek inside, and the vault delivers. It’s a place I’ll be visiting often to get the latest strategies from Michael, a guy who quietly makes money online without massive fuss and marketing hype.

What’s in the vault? Well, Michael says the topics they cover include…

* Traffic Generation
* Social Media Strategies
* Mininets and Linking
* Affiliate Revenue Models
* Audio and Podcasting
* Video Production Techniques
* Motivation and Inspiration
* Creating Your Own Products
* Building Joint Venture Partners
* Persuasion and Conversion
* Sales, Advertising and Marketing
* List and Readership Building
* SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

So that’s pretty much everything, then! :-)

How To Use Wordpress Tags For Affiliate Income

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I set up a Wordpress blog a few months ago that uses tags. I didn’t think much about using the tags, to be honest.

If you notice, I don’t have tags on this blog. :-)

But, the new blog used a newer version of Wordpress, complete with shiny new tags, so I added them when I made a new post.

Check out the results…

A lot of the pages that the search engines sent traffic to were tag pages.

How cool is that?

I just read a very good article on how to use Wordpress tags correctly by Dr Andy Williams. You remember Andy? He was the guy ranting against unethical Internet marketing tactics. So it’s no surprise to see Andy putting out quality, useful advice on his blog for free, and showing the unethical marketer’s how things should be done!

(note the affiliate commissions at the end of the article… coming from the tag pages. Nice tracking, Andy… and a nice little earner!) :-)

Ewen Chia To Release Book On Becoming A Super Affiliate

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Ewen Chia, for those of you who don’t know, is one of the top super affiliates in the world for the Internet marketing industry.

(I’m pretty sure he could make sales in any industry, but I only monitor the Internet marketing industry, and Ewen comes at or near the top of every single JV competition he enters, usually making hundreds of sales for the merchant)

Very soon Ewen is going to release his first physical book titled, “How I Made My First Million On The Internet and How You Can Too!”

I’ve seen a pre-release copy, and it’s an excellent introduction to becoming a super affiliate.

Ewen’s book is published by Morgan James Publishing, the same guys who published Joel Comm’s “Twitter Power”, “The Adsense Code” and “Click Here To Order” as well as many more by other well known Internet marketers.

What I especially like about these books that Internet marketers are releasing is that they’re cheap. Ewen says his book will be “less than $15 from Amazon on launch day, Thursday, February 26th 2009″.

Now that’s a real bargain and a highly recommended purchase. :-)

More about Internet Marketing ethics…

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

I was reading Martin Avis’ Kickstart Newsletter today and found it very interesting. Martin was talking about the latest guru launch, which seems to have resulted in 4 million dollars in sales within 24 hours because of multiple other gurus promoting it with huge “value added” bonuses.

Martin wrote…

“One other interesting observation is that the newsletters I receive are filtered into three possible places: a special folder for newsletters from people I trust and read, a second ‘general ezines’ folder from people I get stuff from regularly, but who send more cr*p than content, and my normal inbox where the stuff I haven’t set specific filters for lands.

All of the shrill entreaties to buy this latest and greatest launch went into my inbox or the general ezines pile. Not a single one of the trusted marketers who send out interesting, thought provoking and highly readable content bothered to promote it at all.

Must be something in there about the company you keep.”

Dr Andy Williams Rants

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I love a good rant. People who rant are showing passion about a subject. When other people rant about a subject I’m passionate about, I feel empathy with them.

One of the subjects I’m passionate about is Internet marketing… especially the scams and borderline unethical marketing that goes on… hence I started the ScamFreeZone waaaay back in 1997.

Dr Andy Williams, the well-respected Internet marketer, just wrote a wonderful rant in his newsletter on this subject. Let me show you it…

From Dr Andy’s Easy Search Engine Optimisation Blog
Firstly, I bought a product that looked really promising. I haven’t actually gotten around to reading it yet so I cannot comment on whether it is any good yet. However, after paying my money, I wanted my download URL. However, I had to go through 2 or 3 “One time Offers” (OTO) first, before I was taken to my download URL. The links to say “No Thanks” to these OTO was difficult to find on all of these pages, and I got progressively more annoyed at the hoops I was forced to jump through before I could have my product. That in itself was almost enough for me to tell the guy to shove it and ask for a refund.

What really annoyed me though was what happened later in the week. I got a phone call from someone saying that I had signed up for a course by (name withheld) on “Starting my Internet Business”, and the guy on the other end of the phone was my advisor, assigned to me to help me get started.

I told him that I had not signed up for any such course, but they said that didn’t matter as they would help me start my business. Well, after politely telling the guy I wasn’t interested, I went to look up the “guru” who was running this opportunity, to see if I could find out how he had got my phone number. It turns out, the guy who was running this was the same guy who made me jump through hoops to get my download URL.

Incidentally, the product I bought was nothing to do with starting an Internet bus1ness.

Totally unethical IMO.

I don’t know why Andy doesn’t “name and shame” the guy. After all, his newsletter subscribers would really want to know who NOT to buy from.

So,what do you think about “multiple one time offers after you purchase something” and the “follow-up unwanted phone call”?

In his other rant (check the blog for the full story), Dr Andy also mentions a marketer who adds you to multiple lists, so you have to unsubscribe multiple times, even though you only signed up once.

Isn’t the main problem that “gurus” like these give all Internet marketer’s a bad name?

Aggressive AT&T spam filters… especially SBCglobal.net

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

There seems to be a common theme from people who’ve requested a Spider key (4,000 in 36 hours!) but not received one (mainly sbcglobal.net email accounts). (update, add shaw.ca to the list)

So I did a bit of digging, and it seems that SBCglobal.net is owned by AT&T, and AT&T made news headlines such as “Enraged AT&T spam filter eats legitimate mail” less than a year ago.

The problem with aggressive spam filters that the ISP controls is that the end user is almost always unaware that their email was blocked at the ISP level.

The email never gets to the end user, or their personal spam filters, so saying to “check your spam filters for the email from my server” doesn’t help, because the ISP rejected it at their level… just bounced it, or ate it.

My advice, if you use AT&T or any other company who are over-aggressive in their filtering, and you think you may be missing legitimate email, is to use GMAIL from Google. They are great at detecting spam, but leaving legitimate email alone.

It doesn’t matter what you call them… super affiliates, joint venture partners, strategic alliances or simply “gurus”, they can help you grow your business rapidly and exponentially.

But, how do you get these “super affiliates” to promote you?

Where can you find them?

What do you offer them?

These are some of the questions I think people have about super affiliates.

But what question regarding super affiliates would you most like to know the answer to?

Let me know in a comment below… and I’ll compile the answers into a PDF report for you…
