More about Internet Marketing ethics…

I was reading Martin Avis’ Kickstart Newsletter today and found it very interesting. Martin was talking about the latest guru launch, which seems to have resulted in 4 million dollars in sales within 24 hours because of multiple other gurus promoting it with huge “value added” bonuses.

Martin wrote…

“One other interesting observation is that the newsletters I receive are filtered into three possible places: a special folder for newsletters from people I trust and read, a second ‘general ezines’ folder from people I get stuff from regularly, but who send more cr*p than content, and my normal inbox where the stuff I haven’t set specific filters for lands.

All of the shrill entreaties to buy this latest and greatest launch went into my inbox or the general ezines pile. Not a single one of the trusted marketers who send out interesting, thought provoking and highly readable content bothered to promote it at all.

Must be something in there about the company you keep.”

  1. Neil,

Part of my personal New Year “cleanup” included unsubscribing from hollow content newsletters. The culling process continues.

If an author has only mailed out product launch offers since Jan. 1st, he/she is now off my “welcome-in” list.
