Elance Outsourcing – My Elance Review

I thought I’d just write some comments about using Elance for out-sourcing and out-tasking seeing as I’ve used them extensively.

First, I need to say that I haven’t used other outsourcing services… I basically haven’t seen the need.

It’s very simple to use elance.com… you just sign up for an account, write your project proposal with as much specific detail as you can, and invite bids. Then, based on the reputation, bid amount, previous feedback and length of time the project will take, you select one of the outsourcers to do your job. After agreeing terms, I strongly recommend you fund the project through elance’s own escrow system… which means you put your money into elance’s hands upfront, so the outsourcer knows they’ll get paid if they meet the terms, but it’s still in your control as to when you release the funds. When the job is complete, and you’ve reviewed the work, you simply instruct elance to release the escrow funds.

I’ve got graphics and articles done through elance, which are simple projects. If you want to get coding work done, make sure you set “milestones” for the coders to deliver as they progress to the end goal. There’s nothing worse than seeing months drift by and no progress on your projects.

Overall, I love the Elance system and highly recommend them to anyone looking for outsourcers.
