Ebay Unsubscribe Delay

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

I just read this unsubscribe information, at the bottom of an eBay email message…

“To unsubscribe, click here and change your Notification Preferences. Please note that it may take up to 14 days to process your request.”

I’ve never understood why an almost-instant unsubscribe isn’t possible. In fact, what can possibly make an unbsubscribe request take up to 14 days? We’re using computers here, folks, not pen and ink. Just search the database(s) and delete the record(s), or at least amend them. What’s so hard about that?

Ebay Coupon Codes Compared

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Just in case you were thinking of getting cashback rebates on your ebay purchases using some of the coupon codes floating around, I thought I’d take a look at a few websites offering discount codes and promotional codes for ebay cashback. I found that all is not what it seems…

If you join BigCrumbs they rebate 36%… NOT of the winning bid, but of the ebay fees the seller pays. Coupon Cactus does the same, but only pays 20% of the ebay seller’s fees as a rebate.

The clear winner is ebates who pay you 3%. Yes, just 3%. How can that be the winner? Simple. It’s 3% of the winning bid.

Let’s look at the math (ooh, scary!). If ebay fees are 6% of the winning bid (that’s a ballpark number because ebay’s fees are complicated!) then unless a site offers MORE THAN 50% of ebay’s fees as a rebate, you’re better off going with the 3% flat rebate from ebates.

(if you use one of the links to ebates in this post, you’ll get $5 for signing up when you become a “qualified member”, and I’ll earn $5 too, so, hey, why not?) :-)

eBay for beginners…

Friday, September 28th, 2007

I just found this ebay for beginners blog after the owner tipped me off about it. :-)

Check it out, there’s some useful information about eBay and even though it’s a new blog, it’s a great start. :-)
