I plunked down $70 for a two-year registration of the ScamFreeZone.com domain waaay back in 1997 because the number of money-making scams online was burning me up. Even back then there were rip-offs.

When I see a scam today it STILL burns me up.

So, here’s a failsafe way to spot a scam.

Check the website’s “terms and conditions” for lines like this…

I understand that my purchase of [deleted] is not refundable and I agree in advance NOT to request a refund or file a chargeback for these products.

See what they did there? You agree to NO REFUNDS AND NO CHARGEBACKS… IN ADVANCE!

The “deleted” part mentions a specific product name… but, as another tip that you’re going to be pumped for cash, it mentions THREE products, the basic, then the workshop, then the coaching. Hmmm, if you pay for the basic product (NO REFUNDS, NO CHARGEBACKS), what do you think will happen next? Do you think you’ll be pitched the workshop (NO REFUNDS, NO CHARGEBACKS)… then the coaching (NO REFUNDS, NO CHARGEBACKS)? I wonder what they cost? Hmmm.

Don’t forget… NO REFUNDS, NO CHARGEBACKS!

Some things don’t change.

We created a new ebook around outsourcing and were initially going to sell it for $67, but instead decided to “parcel it up” as a Private Label Right product called Biz In A Box.

My thoughts were that people who were interested in the ebook topic would buy it, AND people who were interested in the option of reselling the ebook (which comes with a squeeze page and giveaway report, a sales letter for the ebook and professional graphics).

I’m wondering, though. Have I devalued the ebook by offering it as PLR? Maybe. I thought it would help people start their own businesses, but perhaps the concept of PLR is so devalued, I should’ve simply offered the ebook as a standalone guide for beginners to outsource using elance. There is an awful lot of rubbish packaged up as PLR and it’s possible people see my new ebook as just that, which would be a shame as the ebook is of very high quality.

I guess I’ll stick to selling my ebooks as standalone products in the future.

I was honoured to take part in Martin Avis’ charity fundraiser ebook as one of the contributing authors. The idea was to take a group of Internet marketers and have them each write an article describing their best success tip for 2010. Martin got 24 articles, added his own and collated them into a great ebook. Not only is the ebook valuable, and reasonably priced at just $17, but all the proceeds go to the “Rotary Club of Sidcup Christmas Appeal to aid charities and special causes the world over in 2010″.

None of the authors received any payment, there are no affiliate commissons, upsells, backed sells or marketing gimmicks… just a quality ebook at an afforable price, and all proceeds to charity.

Eric Holmlund, a marketer I respect hugely, has teamed up with Bishop Anders to make a software source code offer which just amazed me.

Let me first say, I’ve had software created and it’s not an easy task. A huge amount of time and effort goes into the design, execution, testing and re-working software. I can easily see how the software Eric and Bishop are selling the source code to would cost the $100k to develop that they say it did.

Not only did it cost that much to develop, but they claim that they’ve sold the individual programs for up to $397 and sold a total of over $400,000 through one Clickbank account over the last two years… and over a million dollars when you include all the Clickbank accounts they use and PayPal payments.

You won’t believe how much they’re asking for the source code and master resale rights to 40 different pieces of software… it will amaze you too!

(note, none of this software is from PLR sources. It was all created for Bishop’s company. No resale rights or source code rights have been sold before, and they say it will never be offered again after this 5-day liquidation sale. Some of the software may require updating.)
